The R&D Manager is responsible for the research, development, and formulation of new and improved dietary supplement products, ensuring compliance with regulations and industry standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Lead the development of new formulations, including identifying market opportunities.
· Ongoing monitoring, research and sourcing of new ingredients, upgrading current ingredients, and identifying and liaison with ingredient suppliers.
· Develop and optimize formulations, considering factors such as ingredient functionality, stability, and taste.
· Work alongside the Regulatory Department to ensure all products and processes comply with FDA regulations, cGMP standards, and other relevant industry / certifying body standards.
· Work alongside the Regulatory Department on creation and certification of labels for new and improved products.
· Manager R&D projects, budgets, timelines, and resources, collaborating with cross functional teams.
· Develop, mentor and supervise R&D staff, providing technical guidance and support.
· Drive innovation by identifying new technologies, ingredients, and processing methods.
· Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to develop commercialization plans for new products.
· Manage relationships with vendors and co-manufacturers, ensuring quality and timely delivery of products.
· Work alongside the Quality Department to maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of research findings, protocols, and product specifications.
· Identify and resolve technical issues that arise during development or production.
· Other duties as required by senior management.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
To perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this job in a manner that is satisfactory for the continued success of ChildLife® Essentials, the R&D Manager shall have:
· A Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited four-year college or university, with an emphasis in Science, Nutrition, Chemistry, Food Science or related field.
· 5 + Years of Experience within R&D ideally in dietary supplements / CPG industry
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
· Strong understanding of dietary supplement formulation, manufacturing processes, and regulatory requirements.
· Ability to lead and manage a team, motivate staff, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
· Fluency with the Microsoft suite of office products.
· Flexibility, capacity, and persona to manage several tasks and key priorities at once.
· Ability to analyze data, interpret results, and make informed decisions.
