Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Assistant Human Resources Officer, the Analyst performs a variety of complex analytical duties within the Performance Management/Medical Leaves Unit. The Analyst consults regularly with managers and employees throughout the department on issues including, but not limited to, employee discipline, various medical and non-medical leave situations, the Reasonable Accommodation Program, Workers’ Compensation issues, and other employment scenarios that may occur with an employee of the OLC. The incumbent routinely produces various written products, such as summaries of conversations, various memoranda associated with the progressive discipline process, Adverse Actions, recommendations to management on a variety of personnel management issues, and other written products as appropriate.

School Transcripts:
When using education to qualify, unofficial transcripts must be submitted. Applicants with foreign transcripts must provide a transcript evaluation that indicates the number of units to which the foreign course work is equivalent. If selected for appointment, official transcripts will be required.

Examination Information:

  • To establish list eligibility as an Associate Personnel Analyst (APA), you must take and pass the online (AGPA) examination (used as an appropriate for the APA classification), and meet the minimum qualifications for both the APA and AGPA classifications.
  • To establish list eligibility as a Staff Services Analyst (SSA), you must take and pass the online  examination or have previously passed the written SSA Transfer examination, and meet minimum qualifications for the SSA classification.

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Knowledge of and experience in state performance management processes, principles, and applicable laws and regulations. Must be proficient in managing multiple tasks and have the ability to analyze data and situations, and present information and findings effectively both orally and in writing. Must have excellent organizational and communication skills to support the department’s mission, vision, values and business priorities. Must be able to exercise good judgement and discretion when working with confidential information.
