Job Description

Position: Mill Nurse

Location: West Point, VA

Employment Type: Temp to Hire (Ongoing need, but conversion not guaranteed)

Pay Rate: $40.00–$50.00

Shift: 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday–Friday

Responsibilities:

• Provide care for work-related injuries and illnesses.
• Conduct annual employee wellness screenings.
• Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Perform annual audiograms for all employees (COHC certification required).
• Assist Safety Manager with OSHA log management for workers’ comp cases.
• Administer allergy medications and vaccination shots (COVID, flu, tetanus, etc.).
• Manage inventory of medical and safety supplies.
• Conduct physicals for new hires and Incident Response Team.
• Maintain confidential employee medical files.
• Perform drug screenings (random, new hires, reasonable suspicion, property damage, return-to-work).
• Support employee wellness initiatives (e.g., weight loss, blood pressure management).
• Assist with benefits inquiries.
• Monitor FMLA/STD and help employees with required paperwork.
• Oversee return-to-work and rehabilitation programs.
• Provide medical guidance, review, and interpretation of medical documents.
• Coordinate with the Worker Compensation Third-Party Administrator (TPA) and file necessary claims.
• Advise and support management regarding medical and workers’ comp issues.
• Order and manage pharmaceutical and medical supplies, ensuring inventory accuracy and expiration compliance.
• Perform administrative duties and tasks as assigned by HR and Safety Managers.

Requirements:

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with experience in emergency, industrial, or occupational health settings.
• Occupational health experience is required.
• Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations (e.g., Workers’ Compensation, OSHA, ADA, Hazard Communications).
• Strong communication and computer skills.
• 3–5 years of related experience.
