Job Description

AppleOne is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Safety Trainer with a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) to join our team. This critical role is responsible for developing, implementing, and delivering comprehensive safety training programs for all new and existing drivers. The ideal candidate will combine their hands-on trucking experience with a passion for teaching and a deep understanding of DOT regulations and best safety practices.

You will be instrumental in onboarding new drivers, familiarizing them with our company's safety protocols and fostering a strong safety-first culture from day one.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Driver Onboarding & Orientation: Conduct thorough safety orientation for all new hires, ensuring they understand company policies, procedures, and safety expectations before going into the field.
  • Safety Training Development & Delivery:
  • Design and deliver engaging classroom and behind-the-wheel training sessions on a wide range of safety topics.
  • Topics include, but are not limited to: FMCSA/DOT regulations, Hours of Service (HOS) compliance, Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs), defensive driving techniques, accident prevention, proper vehicle inspection (pre-trip, en route, post-trip), hazardous materials handling (if applicable), and emergency procedures.
  • Practical & Hands-On Training: Provide practical, hands-on training to drivers, ensuring proficiency in operating equipment safely and effectively. This includes evaluating driving skills and providing constructive feedback.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay current with all federal, state, and local transportation safety regulations (FMCSA, DOT, OSHA) and integrate updates into training programs.
  • Accident/Incident Prevention: Work proactively to identify potential safety hazards, develop preventative measures, and contribute to accident investigation and analysis as needed.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date training records, certifications, and compliance documentation for all drivers.
  • Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with operations and management to assess training needs, identify areas for improvement, and enhance the overall safety program.
  • Mentorship & Support: Act as a resource and mentor for drivers, promoting a culture of continuous learning and safety awareness.

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum of 5 years of verifiable experience as a Class A CDL driver , demonstrating a strong commitment to safety.
  • Prior experience in a training, instructional, or safety-related role within the transportation industry is highly preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, and other relevant federal and state transportation regulations.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and instruct diverse groups of learners.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Passion for safety and a genuine desire to educate and empower drivers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CDL endorsements .
